Obama … what to expect?

Americans, generally speaking,  are simply glad to see an end to the Bush era and are hoping for a brand new start. African-Americans are glad to see a president who shares the skin color with them. White Americans are glad they have accomplished a historic event of change and equality. All countries throughout the world have been long discussing how could Obama benefit them, somehow. Btw, I was just glad that his first visit would be to Canada, a tradition that Bush had broken.

Anyways, as he emerged from the hallway towards the crowd, one could feel a sense of pride in him. The kind of pride that says, “I am here. I have worked really hard all my life. I have earned it”. Not the kind of pride that says, “I am the king now, all should bow before me”.  Said that, he also seemed very well-grounded and wise.

So, what to expect from such a man…..who has been a very hard working man throughout his life, is a great family man. Has seen ups and downs in his life since childhood. Has attained the title of the first Black president of the US. Instead of gathering all black people in his office, has chosen diversity. Talks of unity, hope and peace. Well, to me, this is the kind of man who can bring a change…..and a better one. The best thing about him is that he prefers peace over violence. I hope he can spread the word around the globe to achieve peaceful solutions without bloodshed and wars. Also, we can expect him to help the struggling honest and hardworking  Americans; irrespective of their color or creed. I think it would go more like “Justice for all and none above justice.”

Out of the context, it just clicked to me …. isnt this what Allah asks of all His believers? Quran and Islam have always defined a true muslim as truthful, honest, just, humble, hardworker and a believer of Allah. What an irony that majority of us muslims say that we believe in Him but no longer depict the other essentials in our characters. Obama eventhough not a muslim, but definitely seems to be a good human being. Here, I would also like to state my own belief. “Good humans are present in every color, creed and culture” so we should stop being prejudiced and think at a more human level.

  1. The first news that i heard after his oath, and the best from a US president in a long time has been the closure of Guantanamo
I am sure that things will improve and the overall status of living will increase for the whole world.

Thats true. You have mentioned a great point. So, Obama is also coming upto those people’s expectations who were not even expecting.

As I have seen and read that no religion in this world says anything about hating, or killing innocent people. Quran doesn’t not teach a muslim to hate or kill innocent. And I really feel angry when it is said Islamic-terrorist, radical-islamist,muslim-terrorist, why no one calls a christian person who becomes a terrorist a christian-terrorist? why don’t they call hindu-terrorists who kill innocent people?
President Obama seems to be doing good, but Mr. Bush has made everything hard for him. The Guantanamo Bay Jail, where an eleven-year-old boy was captured as a terrorist, because he was caught near afghan border, is now to be released. He has no terrorist ties, and there no hard evidence that he supported Taliban.
I hope he is freed and lots of innocent people, who were in NY on Visiting Visas and extended their visas only to be jailed in Guantanamo Bay for being Pakistani or Foreigner.

Yeah, and I also feel someone needs to bring to Obama’s attention, the attacks on Pakistan border that are killing civillians.

  5. mehreen says:

If Pakistan’s border comes to the attention, there might be another war on the way. I don’t want any war, no matter where it starts
