“Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are — chaff and grain together — certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.…”

One might be able to relate to one of those days. The day when you want to write a lot. Your mind is full of ideas and things to discuss. But you feel too tired to jot down anything. Your brain is so filled up with a hotchpotch, that you cannot entertain just one idea at a time.

These days are just as annoying as those days when you have all the time and energy you need to write something. But you feel blank, as if there’s no topic left to discuss in this world. Anyways, the best solution to this problem is to sleep on it for a while. Let the ideas make a queue by settling among themselves. In the meanwhile give your body some rest.

Today, for me, is one of those days. So thats what I will be doing now. Good luck to all bloggers out there. Chao!

We, are all strugglers in this ever-so-fast ‘world of today’. So, here is an inspiration for all the human kind…..Be Good, Do Good.

“Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wife: I thought you’d never ask. Guess who is the owner of this gas station? My high-school ex! He is well-settled with his wife and kid in our city. Isnt that amazing?

Husband (with all his pride): Yeah sure! Count yourself lucky, you are the mayor’s wife now. Had you married him, you would be running the station with him.

Wife: Well, you can count yourself lucky too. Who knows if I had married him, he would have been the mayor and you’d be running the station.

Three people were travelling in a boat, one priest (Christian), one maulvi (Muslim) and one scientist (atheist). The boat gets cracked and starts sinking. The scientist says since none of us know swimming, there’s no logical way of getting to the shore. The maulvi stands up in determination, “In the name of Allah!”, and steps out of the boat. One step after the other on water and he reaches the shore. Seeing that, the priest stands up too, “In the name of holy son!”, he also starts walking and reaches the shore. The scientist then stands up too, “In the name of science!”, starts walking but drowns. Priest looks at the maulvi and says…”Do you think we should have told him where the stones were?”

Americans, generally speaking, are simply glad to see an end to the Bush era and are hoping for a brand new start. African-Americans are glad to see a president who shares the skin color with them. White Americans are glad they have accomplished a historic event of change and equality. All countries throughout the world have been long discussing how could Obama benefit them, somehow. Btw, I was just glad that his first visit would be to Canada, a tradition that Bush had broken.

Anyways, as he emerged from the hallway towards the crowd, one could feel a sense of pride in him. The kind of pride that says, “I am here. I have worked really hard all my life. I have earned it”. Not the kind of pride that says, “I am the king now, all should bow before me”. Said that, he also seemed very well-grounded and wise.

So, what to expect from such a man…..who has been a very hard working man throughout his life, is a great family man. Has seen ups and downs in his life since childhood. Has attained the title of the first Black president of the US. Instead of gathering all black people in his office, has chosen diversity. Talks of unity, hope and peace. Well, to me, this is the kind of man who can bring a change…..and a better one. The best thing about him is that he prefers peace over violence. I hope he can spread the word around the globe to achieve peaceful solutions without bloodshed and wars. Also, we can expect him to help the struggling honest and hardworking Americans; irrespective of their color or creed. I think it would go more like “Justice for all and none above justice.”

Out of the context, it just clicked to me …. isnt this what Allah asks of all His believers? Quran and Islam have always defined a true muslim as truthful, honest, just, humble, hardworker and a believer of Allah. What an irony that majority of us muslims say that we believe in Him but no longer depict the other essentials in our characters. Obama eventhough not a muslim, but definitely seems to be a good human being. Here, I would also like to state my own belief. “Good humans are present in every color, creed and culture” so we should stop being prejudiced and think at a more human level.

Even if not all, many people would get the “blue’s clue”…..specially the moms like me. No doubt Canada looks very beautiful when its all white, covered in thick, pretty, pure white snow. Even the trees and sign boards and roads and cars. Specially when its snowing, the scene is remarkably beautiful. If I were a painter, I would make lots and lots of paintings to describe this and I could have stayed busy indoors. Unfortunately, I am not a painter instead, I am a full-time, stay-at-home mom of three kids, two of whom are under two. This is where the “blue” enters on top of the “white”.

I, like all normal people, love to go out with my kids in the huge double stroller I have; in which both my younger ones can sit comfortably. I walk long walks…to the malls, playgrounds, OEYC, doctors and wherenot; till this WHITE takes over the grounds and side-walks. The stroller simply wont slide through the thick snow/icy ground. And I am not alone here, a lot of moms even with single strollers face the same trouble. As I try to push the stroller, my feet slip backwards and steering the stroller is harder than anything. During this struggle, I suddenly feel I have to check on my little ones and whewwww……they have removed their gloves and caps and their hands, ears, noses and cheeks are turning blue (I myself cannot feel my nose and now my breath too). With wind chills and wind gusts of Canada ….. ewww ……. first I tried to hate it, but it wouldnt go away anyways; plus the scene IS beautiful when I see it from inside, through my living-room windows. So I decided to hibernate with my kids for these few months (which btw seem forever). Thats why, White Canada, Blue moms……but not for very long!!
